This was our second attempt to get out to St Kilda as our first attempt last year did not happen because of adverse weather . Despite not getting out to St Kilda last year we throughly enjoyed the trip for all the reasons that are often much praised in reviews - it was an amazing experience. This year we had a similar amazing experience except this time we did get to St Kilda so we run out of superlatives.. We were fortunate Neil the skipper was able to get us out there in the only weather window possible - long enough for us to spend two nights in the bay with shore trips both days. We were able to take in so much of the island during our walks - most of the time with good visibility but even when the mist was down it was still beautiful in a different way. The journey out there and back was enhanced by the experience of visiting other remote islands . Our Wild Life Guide Lynsey was incredibly knowledgeable on wild life issues but also the social history of the islands. Life on board the Emma Jane was very comfortable with Charlie the Chef producing wonderful meals every day and Jasmine the Steward looking after us all so well. In addition to their individual attributes the whole on board team worked so well as a flexible team.

What a fantastic cruise! Despite not being able to reach St Kilda because of the weather, the skipper (Charlie), who knew the area and islands in great detail, took us to some magical places. Mingulay was our favourite - the beautiful beach was full of seals and we also saw a lot of nesting puffins. Bella (wildlife expert) pointed out the numerous different seabirds, plus porpoise and minky whales and took us for walks most days. We were looked after extremely well by Jasmine (steward) who worked tirelessly to look after us and made sure we had coffees/teas/drinks. And the food was exceptional- Sian is an extremely talented chef. Thank you to the crew who made our holiday so special. Wendy and John
