This was our second attempt to get out to St Kilda as our first attempt last year did not happen because of adverse weather . Despite not getting out to St Kilda last year we throughly enjoyed the trip for all the reasons that are often much praised in reviews - it was an amazing experience. This year we had a similar amazing experience except this time we did get to St Kilda so we run out of superlatives.. We were fortunate Neil the skipper was able to get us out there in the only weather window possible - long enough for us to spend two nights in the bay with shore trips both days. We were able to take in so much of the island during our walks - most of the time with good visibility but even when the mist was down it was still beautiful in a different way. The journey out there and back was enhanced by the experience of visiting other remote islands . Our Wild Life Guide Lynsey was incredibly knowledgeable on wild life issues but also the social history of the islands. Life on board the Emma Jane was very comfortable with Charlie the Chef producing wonderful meals every day and Jasmine the Steward looking after us all so well. In addition to their individual attributes the whole on board team worked so well as a flexible team.

Our trip on Emma Jane, with James and Chris at the helm, was the highlight of our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebrations. We were greeted by name on arrival, which straight away made us feel welcome. The scenery was fantastic. Will was always on the lookout, we saw dolphins off Muck, minke whales off the northern coast of Skye, white tailed eagles in the sky, and got up close to puffins and razorbills on the Shiants. Not forgetting the spectacular geology, flora and fauna of the islands. The food prepared by Jaya and served by Beatrice was outstanding; we could not have asked for better. They even made a celebration cake for us. Trips ashore each day and guided walks were tailored to individuals capability. Chris, James and Will were only too willing to share their local knowledge and expertise. Having driven the West Coast roads of Scotland last year and previously visited the Isles of Mull and Skye, our trip gave us the opportunity to view the West Coast from a different angle. Thanks to all the crew, we felt safe and well cared for at all times Thanks also to our fellow guests for their good company.
