Outstanding! James and the crew always showed great consideration for the guests’ preferences and whilst at all times maintaining great diligence to ensure everyone’s safety, even adapted daily plans to fit in with the guests’ preferences. Each anchorage was well chosen and sheltered and he also made sure that whenever possible, meals were served at anchor. The crew were both willing to share their knowledge and benefit from that of the guests. They were also inclusive and accommodating. Onshore trips were magical, even when subjected to the vagaries of the weather! The food was of Michelin Star quality throughout the cruise and Caroline took so much care to provide alternatives for guests who required gluten and cow-free diets - she rose to this challenge wonderfully every day. Pauline’s table decorations and attention to detail were fabulous and down-to-earth common-sense approach ensured that everything ran smoothly. . Lynsey was lovely and very conscientious in pointing out wildlife as she spotted it, also acting promptly on the sightings of others. Just do it - but do it now or you’ll miss out because they’ll be fully booked!

This was a superb holiday, travelling solo with strangers on board the Emma Jane. Some were experienced cruisers; others, like me, new to the experience. The group was friendly and I think everyone managed to do as much or as little as they chose to – joining Will on his fascinating wildlife walks, ambling along the tow path or just watching the view change from an easy chair as we moved along the canal and lochs. The crew made a great team - from James' handling of the boat through flights of locks, Helen's watchful care of us and our cabins, Ruth's amazing cooking (for me, the best vegan food I've ever been served.) The weather was lovely, I saw almost everything I hoped to see and lot more I didn't know was there, I enjoyed the informality and peace of it all. I wouldn't have been able to do this without the waiver a single supplement, so thanks to Hebrides Cruises for that.
