Skipper Rob Barlow is owner of Hebrides Cruises but also Skipper of Elizabeth G and Proud Seahorse. A qualified skipper and engineer, and a member of Tobermory Coastguard Team, Rob has been cruising the west coast of Scotland for 25 years. He has accumulated a vast knowledge of the geography and wildlife of the area which has is only too pleased to pass on to Crews and guests. He will also happily dive for scallops to serve up for the guests!

Skipper Chris Ireland is well qualified to skipper Elizabeth G with a Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence and also commercial diver,  engineer and first aider. Chris manage his vessel safely while ensuring guests enjoy the full cruising experience that the west coast has to offer.  His enthusiasm for the wildlife and natural surroundings is apparent, revelling in the fact that every cruise is different. 

Chef Stevie Hughes joined Hebrides Cruises in 2017 and was an instant success because of his delicious food. Stevie is from Oban and knows the best places for getting excellent quality local produce to serve on board.  He has great boat skills having worked on boats for many years.  A keen diver, he is hoping to have an opportunity to dive for scallops for guests - we are sure there will be!

Wildlife Guide Chris Gomersall, a well-known outstanding expert on wildlife and photography is Expert Guide aboard two of our cruises.  2018 is the 10th year that Chris has Guided for Hebrides Cruises For detailed information about Chris and which cruises he is on board for, visit the Chris Gomersall page on our website.

Wildlife Guide Nigel Spencer has qualifications in mountaineering and photography and is experienced in technology and identifying wildlife, all of which mix well together for providing services as a guide– guests who need photographic advice while on board take note! Nigels mission is to provide a safe, educational, inspirational and fun experience for guests both on shore and on board

Wildlife Guide Jenny Hampson is a naturalist and wildlife guide living on the Isle of Mull. She has a degree in Zoology and has worked for the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, Mull Aquarium and Sea Life Surveys communicating with the public about the incredible wildlife of the Hebrides. She is a new crew member for 2018 and looks forward to visiting St Kilda and the possibility of spotting humpback whales, or even seeing famous orca John Coe!

Wildlife Guide Alexa Kershaw is returning to crew with us in 2018. She has a Masters degree in Ecological Management and has worked as a researcher, guide, campaigner and consultant on a wide variety of marine mammal research projects, including visual and acoustic surveys in the Baltic Sea, photo-id of cetaceans in South Africa and New Zealand, and an aerial survey of the Great Barrier Reef. She is a keen wildlife photographer, passionate about conservation, and combines cetacean research with her love of guiding and sharing knowledge of the marine environment. 

Bosun Craig Robinson enjoyed 2 cruises as bosun with us in 2017 so much that he decided he would like to do a lot more in 2018!  He has an indepth knowledge of the west coast of Scotland, is an experienced mountain guide has a degree in physical Geography and Geology and is STCW qualified.  He is always eager to please our guests with no requests any trouble so we are delighted to have him for the season.

Bosun Kevin Johnston is new to the Hebrides Cruises team for 2018.  Originally from Aberdeen he has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality trade and has worked for over 2 years on live-aboard canal barges.  He is very much looking forward to working on the Elizabeth G and sharing his passion for the sea with guests.
